Ways to Help

Three decades ago, a group of civic, business and philanthropic leaders came together to create the Dorothy Day Center. But they didn’t do it alone. Dorothy Day Center would not exist without the thousands of donors, volunteers and advocates who have worked tirelessly to provide our clients the dignity they deserve.

This is our opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the leaders who came before us 30 years ago, to do our very best for those who need us the most.

The faces of Dorothy Day Center: Ruth’s story

RuthA grandmother, nurse and ordained minister, Ruth arrived at Dorothy Day Center lost, suffering from dementia and desperately in need of a safe place to stay. Ruth had none of her medications, little money, few possessions and even fewer memories. With help, Ruth was able to connect to the services she desperately needed, find her family and eventually make a new home in an assisted living facility in the area.
